Dishes From The Restaurant

There was a family gathering and we were taking dinner at a restaurant nearby.

Most of the dishes were hot and spicy. 
Almost everybody increased the quantity of rice in order to go along with all these delicious dishes .

Dinner Menu :
1. Fried Chicken Drumstick in Lemon Sauce (柠檬鸡).
2. Stir-fried Broccoli with prawns , meat and squid (西兰花).
3. Sambal Sotong (squid) with curry leaves(甘香苏东).
4. Deep fried pork rib in nam yu sauce(南乳排骨).
5. Belacan tiny French Beans(马来煎炒四季豆).
6. Fried Garupa in Galangal and Turmeric Sauce(黄姜和蓝姜酱汁石斑鱼).

Savoury Minced Lean Pork with Potatoes




Minced pork with potatoes is always an easy dish to prepare.
But , I would like to have something salty and spicy.
So, preserved salted black beans ( dou chi , 豆豉)and curry leave were added in this dish in order to enhance the taste of the potatoes.
Those minced pork was prepared a day ahead.

Lunch Menu :
1. Savoury Minced Lean Pork with Potatoes-  with preserved black beans and chillies 
2. Stir-fried mustard green - without salt.




Savoury Minced Pork with Potatoes: ( for 1 person)
Ingredient :
100 g precooked minced lean pork ( marinated with salt , soy sauce , sugar and dark sauce , steak sauce and sesame sauce)

2 potatoes , cut into small cubes (in order to shorten the cooking time )
1 tbsp preserved salted black beans ( 珠江豆豉)
4 small chillies ( depends hot spicy you like )
some curry leaves
1/2 tsp sugar

Method :
1. Fry potatoes + 2 tbsp of oil.
2. + preserved salted black beans + small chillies.
3. + minced lean pork.
4. + sugar + 3/4 cup of water to simmer until the potatoes become soft.

Breakfast : Kuih Dadar - Pancake with Grated Coconut Filling


Kuih Dadar ( Kuih ketayap) is  my favourite Malay Kuih .
Kuih dadar is pandan ( screw pine leaves )pancake with grated coconut filling which is cooked in gula melaka ( palm sugar).
I only get to eat it when I get up early to go to the wet market.
I bought this from an Indian stall and it only costs RM0.40 !

Lemongrass and Tomato Chicken



What else that I could cook with the chicken I have ?
The idea of cooking Lemongrass and Tomato chicken was because I had these 3 ingredients in my fridge.
I also need something with chilli.
So , I combined those 4 ingredients and cooked with them in tomato sauce.

Lunch Menu:
1. Lemongrass and Tomato Chicken
2. Mustard Green without salt.
3. Dessert :  Cassava sweet soup which was given by my neighbour.




Lemongrass and Tomato Chicken : ( For 1 person)
Chicken few pieces

1 1/2 half of tomatoes - wedges
1 onion -  wedges
1 stalk of lemongrass - shredded
2 small chilli ( chilli padi)
1/2 tbsp chopped garlic

Seasoning:
tomato ketchup 1 tbsp
fish sauce 1 tsp
sugar 1/4 tsp 

2 tbsp oil
150 ml water

Method:
1. Stir- fried onion until fragrant with 2 tbsp oil + chopped garlic .
2. + chicken + lemongrass + tomato + small chilli.
3. Tomato ketchup + fish sauce + sugar  + water . Simmer until the chicken soft.
