Ipoh White Coffee

A friend from Johor visited me recently.
Besides visiting those famous limestone caves, eating seems the most important activity to do in Ipoh.
Drinking famous Ipoh old town white coffee is one of the itinerary for my friend.

The Menu :
1. Iced Ipoh White Coffee.
2. Light cupcakes with blueberry jam and orange flavour cream .
3. Flaky salted egg pastry ( 咸蛋酥).
3. Half boiled eggs.

A Lazy Day

IMG_0169 Fried koay teow

To buy food from outside is the best thing you can do when you are lazy to cook and when you are hungry.
Some women even say that they have "no mood " to cook. I do say that sometimes.

The Lazy Menu:

1. Fried Koay Teow( RM4) with pork slices, prawns, green vegetables and bean sprout.
1. Mixed Fruits?( RM2) - Guava, pineapple, umbra, and mangoes sprinkled with sour plum powder ( 酸梅粉). Eating mixed fruits in order to have a " balance diet" for the day.

Simple Spaghetti with Capsicum in Tomato Sauce

IMG_0180 green capsicum , tomatoes,onion and garlic

I only have these ingredients with me at that moment.
These vegetables let me think of spaghetti .
So, I made simple spaghetti with capsicum in tomato sauce.
Since I like my spaghetti to be spicy , thus crushed black peppercorn was added.

I bought the bundt pan about 8 months ago .
At last , I decided to make a Marble Banana Bundt Cake for the "opening ceremony" of this bundt pan.
I only had a piece of the cake last night and the rest of them were given out to neighbours and sister.

Homemade Salted Eggs

Coarse salt

It is actually cheaper to buy salted eggs than make your own one.
1 duck egg costs RM0.65.
1 salted egg costs only RM0.70.
But , I would like to know how the older generation do these homemade salted eggs on those good old days.

Homemade Salted Eggs: (中文版:自制咸蛋)
Ingredients :

Coarse salt 350 g ( RM0.70 , 1 Kg)
1 litre water
Duck eggs 10 nos. ( RM0.65 each)

Method :
1. Boiled 1 litre water + coarse salt , let cool.
2. Place duck eggs into a bottle + salted water.
3. Cover the bottle and leave it there for 14 days.
4. After 14 days , boil the salted eggs for 10 minutes before serving.

Note : Do not use bottle that is too big as all eggs must be soaked in salt water.

The bottle was slightly too big in the beginning. Those eggs were float once I poured salt water into the bottle. I changed it into a smaller bottle later.
